I think most would agree that this time of year is abound with love. I mean, it’s hard to argue that God didn’t love us – since he sent His Son to be born and then die for our sins …. That’s Love.
But, for many, this season doesn’t always represent Jesus’ Love – in fact, for many this season brings out the worst – things like hate, jealousy and contempt. See, when people get caught up in things other than the real reason for the season – it’s easy to feel like you are owed more, or that you didn’t get what you deserved, or that somehow someone else got more than you and you don’t like it. All those things destroy love. They all are forgetting the reason WHY, and the WHO.
So, before you complain about the way you got shafted and the office party, or the way aunt Joan always gives your brother more than you, or that somehow you thought that THIS was the year for that trip to Maui or any other plethora of things that you could complain about – remember this. God gave his one and only Son, born at Christmas, which is what we celebrate – so that he could live and then die for all of humanities (that includes you) sins. If I were God I’d be finding a different way. But He didn’t – that was the only way to save us. That’s Love. Selfless – humble and 100% pure Love. Remember that over the next week.
