Do We REALLY believe?

06 Jan

As we embark on a new year – I’ve been thinking. Do we believe the way we think we do? Do we REALLY expect God to work in our lives & the lives of those around us? Do we EXPECT it?

In my life – I can say that I haven’t always but I am getting better – much better – at believing what God says in His word – like in Habakkuk 3:2 which says “Lord, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy”. (Habakkuk 3:2 NIV)

There are a few big implications on this verse. 1. That you KNOW what God has done (you know & read God’s word) 2. That you believe that God will act in our day (that God will answer your prayers/requests & will work things for his glory).

So, here’s the simple questions:
1. Are you doing number one?
2. What are you “expecting” God to do in our time?

If you do number one – then you have perspective as to what God can do & what sort of things we can expect.

If your answer to 2. is like most people’s – we SO often VASTLY underestimate what God can do (sadly, because we often don’t do number one or we aren’t asking God where He is working). God is waiting to heal the broken, restore them, re-build relationships, help all those who are hungry etc.
But, God is waiting for you to ask & then He’s going to ask/tell you how you can help make that happen (involve you in some way).
God has a Plan A for helping this world – and that Plan A is his people (us).
God doesn’t enlist us or force us to serve in His Army – we volunteer ourselves – we have to make ourselves available – we have to submit to this life – a life that can be described as a life or worship.

So – what are you doing?? 2012 is here. Will you be sitting there as 2013 begins wondering if THIS is the year you do something, or will 2012 be that year? Do you know if you will have a chance in 2013, or will it be too late for you? Time to make a choice.
What will you choose?
