So I’m currently in a state I will refer to henceforth as “chill”. What is chill? It’s when things aren’t OK – you have challenges, struggles and strife but you are able to not be burdened by them – they don’t weigh you down into a state of inert-ness. How you get to the chill state? I will explain how I have.
But first – I have one chore to get done then I’m going to read – probably continue this great new book on worship design teams – maybe dive into Hybels new book or tackle Tozer again (see Technical Difficulties post for ref.).
The fact of the matter is it’s great to be in the place of chill. It doesn’t mean I’m tuned out or anything trippy. On the contrary – I have many thoughts rolling through my head and many ideas and questions – plenty activity North of the border right now. There are things in my world that I plain wish would go away or get solved now – there are some things in my world that plain suck. But – know what? I’m chill – I’m not worrying about it at all. That’s part of giving things to God and allowing Him to do what He can do – and I do what only I can do. Chill.
So – do you ever chill? I mean – no matter what’s going on in your head – in you life – at your job – are you chill? Do you give these things to God and allow the burden to transfer to Him? Know what? You should. Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest – expect for this Dude reading this Blog…” – WAIT – It doesn’t say that, does it? Everyone can be given rest. The term Jesus uses is “all you who are weary and burdened” - I’m going to go on a limb and boldly say that you qualify. In fact – if you don’t have a burden or you are not weary – then I think that you’re in denial. We all have burdens – but here’s where it gets COOL – we can cast those onto Jesus – and then in MY paraphrase – Jesus states with all authority granted to HIM – “I will allow you to chill.”
My disclaimer – this is not a “one time special offer” – it’s all day – all the time. You will need to take advantage of this awesome availibility – I do. I often have to go to Jesus with stuff regularly – sometimes multiple times a day or even several times an hour if I’m really struggling. See – Jesus isn’t just expecting that once you do this once we will majically just ” have no more burdens”. Contrary to that – He knows we will have more – that’s why we can go to Him repeatedly and constantly and not feel like a loser or some sort of basket-case or screwed-up moron who can’t pull-it together. He wants you to come to Him – that’s His job. And He doesn’t judge you at all. He knows you – you are His child – He made you and formed you. And I may not know my theology as good as others – But I do know that Jesus doesn’t make junk. End disclaimer.
So – are you feelin chill right now? Why not give it a try?
